Winemaker Notes

The Non-Vintage R de Ruinart Brut pours a beautiful, bright golden-yellow color with a fine, persistent trail of delicate bubbles. The nose is remarkably fresh, clean, and open, greeting you with dominant aromas of white-fleshed fruits like crunchy pear and golden apple, beautifully complemented by subtle hints of apricot, white flowers, hazelnut, and an elegant background of fresh brioche. On the palate, this foundational cuvée shows a wonderful harmony, offering a round and fleshy mouthfeel that beautifully displays the blend's 40% Chardonnay core alongside Pinot Noir and Meunier. It balances this supple texture with a lively, crisp freshness, finishing with excellent clarity, clean lines, and a lingering touch of juicy yellow plum and signature chalky minerality.

About Winery

Ruinart Champagne is the oldest established Champagne house, founded in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart in Reims, France. The inspiration came from his uncle, Dom Thierry Ruinart, a Benedictine monk who foresaw the potential of sparkling wine long before it became popular. Initially, Ruinart Champagne was offered as a gift to clients of the family’s cloth business, but its success led Nicolas to abandon textiles and focus solely on Champagne production by 1735. Ruinart was also among the first to age its wines in the ancient chalk quarries (crayères) beneath Reims, which provide ideal conditions for maturation. Over the centuries, Ruinart has become renowned for its elegant, Chardonnay-driven cuvées and its deep connection to the arts, maintaining a legacy of innovation and refinement in the world of fine Champagne.
