About Winery

Heitz Cellar was founded in 1961 by Joe and Alice Heitz in St. Helena, Napa Valley, and quickly became a pioneering force in California winemaking. The winery gained international acclaim for producing Napa’s first vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon, the legendary Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet, known for its distinctive eucalyptus and mint character. Over nearly six decades, the Heitz family established a reputation for classic, age-worthy wines crafted with meticulous attention to terroir and tradition. In 2018, the Lawrence family acquired the estate, continuing its legacy of stewardship and fine winemaking while preserving its historic role as a benchmark in Napa Valley viticulture.
