Winemaker Notes
The 2020 Valserrano Rioja Crianza is a vibrant, full-bodied red with layered fruit and spice, showing both elegance and depth.
Crafted from 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo, this Crianza spent 18 months in French and American oak, resulting in a garnet-red wine with ruby hues. On the nose, it opens with aromas of blackberry, coconut, cinnamon, and subtle oak spice, evolving into notes of mint, liquorice, chocolate, cedar, and graphite when swirled. The palate is robust yet fresh, with lively tannins and a smooth, fruity core. Flavors of cherry liqueur, red fruits, and warm spices linger, leaving a long, concentrated finish that balances richness with elegance. This vintage reflects Rioja Alavesa’s altitude-driven freshness, making it both approachable now and promising for short-term cellaring.
