The 2018 Château Bernard Magrez Saint-Estèphe is a well-structured Bordeaux blend of Merlot (67%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (33%), aged for 18 months in 35% new French oak barrels and 10% clay jars. It opens with rich aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and currant, complemented by notes of black tea, leather, vanilla, clove, and white pepper. The palate is full-bodied and muscular, with refined tannins, a creamy texture, and a long, polished finish. Critics have praised its balance of fruit and oak, with James Suckling awarding it 93 points, noting its purity and finesse. This vintage is expected to age well and is best enjoyed from 2025 to 2030.
