Winemaker Notes

The 2017 Joseph Drouhin Savigny-lès-Beaune "Clos des Godeaux" is a beautifully balanced and graceful expression of Pinot Noir from a classic, highly satisfying Burgundy vintage. In the glass, it pours a vibrant ruby color and opens with a wonderfully expressive nose that blends aromas of ripe wild raspberry, blackcurrant, and fresh dark cherry with delicate floral notes of violets and roses, underscored by a touch of warm wood spice. On the palate, the wine reveals a medium-bodied profile defined by its supple, feminine texture and juicy fruit core. True to the 2017 vintage, it emphasizes purity and elegance over heavy extraction, framing its savory dark fruit layers with fine, silky tannins and an integrated, fresh acidity. The finish is remarkably clean, long, and savory, leaving lingering notes of red berries and undercurrents of earthy spice. While it shows an approachable harmony that makes it lovely to drink right now, its excellent tannic structure and precise terroir definition ensure it will continue to evolve gracefully in the cellar.

About Winery

Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded in 1880 in Beaune, Burgundy, by Joseph Drouhin, and has since grown into one of the region’s most respected wine producers. Over the generations, the family expanded its holdings to include vineyards across Burgundy—such as Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise—and later established Domaine Drouhin Oregon in the Willamette Valley. Today, the estate remains family-run by Joseph’s great-grandchildren, who continue the tradition of producing elegant wines with a focus on terroir and sustainable practices, including organic certification for their Burgundy vineyards since 2009
