Winemaker Notes
Nicknamed "Luminous Freshness" by the house, the 2013 Krug Vintage displays a brilliant, light golden color with a remarkably vibrant, fine stream of bubbles. The nose is a masterclass in elegant intensity, opening with bright, chiseled aromas of ginger, candied citrus peel, and white peach, which gracefully give way to richer, beautifully evolved notes of toasted brioche, honeyed almonds, marzipan, and dried yellow fruits. On the palate, this vintage offers an outstanding tension and taut precision, delivering Krug's signature multi-layered complexity and structure wrapped in a highly chiseled, linear framework. A silky, expansive mousse perfectly carries dense flavors of lemon curd, tart quince, and roasted nuts, driven forward by a structural, laser-sharp acidity. The tasting experience reaches an epic finish that is exceptionally long, pure, and clean, leaving a lingering imprint of intense chalky minerality, subtle smoke, and citrus zest.
About Winery
Krug Champagne is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses in the world, known for its commitment to quality and tradition. Krug was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary who believed in creating the best Champagne every year, regardless of climate variations. He established the house in Reims, the heart of the Champagne region. Joseph Krug’s philosophy was to focus on the individuality of each plot and its wine, creating a library of reserve wines from different years to ensure consistency and excellence. Krug is credited with pioneering the concept of non-vintage Champagne, blending wines from multiple years to achieve a consistent and complex flavor profile.
