Winemaker Notes
The 2024 Chateau d'Esclans "The Pale" Rosé pours an exceedingly delicate, translucent, and barely-there blush pink color. On the nose, this youthful Var region blend (featuring Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle, and Syrah) is wonderfully expressive and aromatic, offering a fragrant basket of fresh peach, red apple, sweet melon, and wild strawberries, accented by a bright squeeze of pink grapefruit. The palate is bone-dry, elegant, and light-bodied, balancing its fruit-forward charm with a zesty, crisp acidity that keeps it incredibly refreshing. Because the wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel, it possesses a subtly rounded, creamy texture that softens the mid-palate, leading into a clean, breezy finish reminiscent of sun-drenched coastal stones and clean mineral freshness.
Winery History
Château d’Esclans, located in Provence, France, has roots dating back to the time of the Counts of Provence, but its modern fame began in 2006 when wine entrepreneur Sacha Lichine purchased the estate. His vision was to elevate rosé to the level of fine wine, and with the help of renowned winemaker Patrick Léon, he created Whispering Angel, which quickly became a global phenomenon. In 2019, luxury group LVMH acquired a majority stake, cementing Château d’Esclans as the leader of the “Rosé Renaissance” and a benchmark for high-quality Provençal rosé.
