Winemaker Notes
The 2020 Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Marquis de Laguiche" Morgeot Blanc is a magnificent expression of both a warm, solar vintage and one of the village's historic estates. In the glass, it shows an admirable light golden color that boundaries on deep lemon. The nose is instantly aromatic and beautifully complex, offering a perfume of white flowers like hawthorn and jasmine tea, laced with candied lemon, fresh apricot, and a sophisticated touch of blond tobacco. On the palate, the signature rich, voluptuous texture of the 2020 vintage is on full display, delivering an explosive mouthfeel filled with flavors of ripe yellow fruits, pear, and a creamy, almond-brioche richness. Despite this opulent, bold weight, the wine remains remarkably focused and precise, driven by a powerful thread of natural, zesty acidity that prevents any sense of heaviness. It finishes with an exceptional length that leaves lingering notes of mineral grit, spice, and soft wood lactones, marking it as a beautifully balanced Premier Cru built to evolve gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years.
About Winery
Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded in 1880 in Beaune, Burgundy, by Joseph Drouhin, and has since grown into one of the region’s most respected wine producers. Over the generations, the family expanded its holdings to include vineyards across Burgundy—such as Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise—and later established Domaine Drouhin Oregon in the Willamette Valley. Today, the estate remains family-run by Joseph’s great-grandchildren, who continue the tradition of producing elegant wines with a focus on terroir and sustainable practices, including organic certification for their Burgundy vineyards since 2009
