Winemaker Notes

The 2018 Château Pontet Canet is a deep, full-bodied, and powerful Pauillac wine with a concentrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It offers a complex nose of dark fruits, spice, and earthy notes, with a rich, opulent palate featuring blackcurrant, plum, and tobacco flavors. The wine is characterized by exceptionally firm, grainy, and sometimes described as velvety tannins, a balanced yet energetic structure, and a very long, spicy finish. Winemaker notes emphasize its high concentration from low yields, its aging in a combination of oak barriques and amphorae, and its potential to age for decades.
