Winemaker Notes

The 2015 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé presents a breathtaking, luminous copper-rose color highlighted by a remarkably fine, dancing effervescence. On the nose, it offers an exquisitely sophisticated bouquet that immediately opens with noble aromas of wild strawberry, pomegranate, and redcurrant, layered beautifully with blood orange zest, dried rose petals, and warm, grounding hints of white pepper and smoky minerality. Benefiting from a 90% Pinot Noir base—blended with a tiny fraction of still red wine from the legendary Clos Colin plot in Bouzy—the palate is a masterclass in structural power, vinous depth, and chiseled precision, delivering a densely concentrated yet silken mouthfeel balanced by a vibrant, linear acidity. The experience culminates in a spectacular, enduring finish that echoes with dark berry fruit, sweet spice, and a hallmark, tongue-coating chalky salinity.

About Winery

Veuve Clicquot, now one of the largest Champagne Houses, was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot under the label "Clicquot". After establishing the brand throughout Europe, Russia and the United States, Philippe was joined by his son, François Clicquot, at the head of the House in 1798. Seven years later, following his untimely death, François’ young widow, Barbe Ponsardin, took over the family business at just 27 years old. The House would subsequently be renamed in her honor: ‘Veuve Clicquot’ means ‘The Widow Clicquot.’
