Winemaker Notes:

The 2014 Chateau Gazin is a well-regarded, elegant Pomerol, typically blending 90% Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It offers savory aromas of black truffle, soy sauce, and dark fruit, with refined tannins and a silky finish. It is considered a strong, consistent vintage, drinking well now through roughly 2029

Château Gazin 2014 is a sophisticated, well-structured Pomerol dominated by Merlot, with aromas of soy sauce, black and red fruits, and subtle truffle notes. The medium-bodied palate features elegant, rounded tannins and flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry, forest floor, incense, and cedar. Best enjoyed after 5–8 years, it can develop complexity for up to 15 years, revealing leathery, meaty, and truffle-like nuances over time.

James Suckling | JS 95

The soy-sauce and savory aromas really make this stand out, but behind it are some very nice fruit and elegant tannins. This is a very well-made modern Pomerol with a lot of potential that needs some time to reveal its full class. Give it five or six years of bottle age.

The Wine Advocate | RP 94

The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. This continues Gazin's fine run of form, a great Pomerol from an estate predisposed these days to create sophisticated, classic wines.

About Winery

The Chateau Gazin vineyards cover 64.2 acres in a single lot, with 56.8 acres under vines, located on the renowned clay-gravel plateau of Pomerol. The estate can produce up to 100,000 bottles a year. A second AOC Pomerol wine "l’Hospitalet de Gazin", was created in 1986 in order to reserve the best of the harvest for Chateau Gazin.

The grapes are fermented in small cement vats. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels (50% new) according to the Bordeaux tradition: malolactic fermentation in casks, rackings to separate the fine wine from the lees, fining with egg whites and, if necessary, light filtration.
